Introduction
As part of my professional and academic work, I seek out the ways in which online, asynchronous learning can be optimized to yield greater student outcomes and retention. After a semester spent learning various educational theories, I chose to study one student and see how they might be applied. My subject, Adam, is a nontraditional learner in an online, undergraduate degree program. While I began with different expectations, the study eventually allowed me to observe the power of metacognition and intrinsic motivation in action.
This site acts as a report of that study.
